1. How important is art in your life?
Art is the perspective from which I look at the world and myself. In this respect, it plays a very big role in my life.
2. Which artistic role models have influenced you the most?
The first work of art that made a lasting impression on me was Giovanni Battista Tiepolo's ceiling painting in the residence in Würzburg, where I grew up. It was also important for me to encounter the works of the following artists (among others): Fred Thieler, Emilio Vedova, Bridget Riley, Barnett Newman, Marlene Dumas, Josef Albers, Anni Albers, Elsbeth Arlt, Etel Adnan, Arakawa, Jessica Stockholder, Allen Ruppersberg, Meret Oppenheim, Piranesi, Carmengloria Morales, Irma Blank, Gae Aulenti, Lee Ufan, Louise Bourgeois, Sturtevant, Edward Ruscha, Laura Owens, Nil Yalter, Bern Porter, Vija Celmins, Shirin Neshat and Kiki Smith.
