“Around the Vast Blue” is a 360 degree view of Tahoe turned inside out. Artist Russell Crotty and his wife went out to the center of the lake on a boat to sketch all vantage points of the view from the lake’s belly button. He then translated what he saw onto a 60-inch diameter fiberglass globe. If you take a closer look, complete passages from Twain’s “Roughing It" are inscribed into Crotty’s illustrations of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
