"I did not know what it was to be an artist. As a child or adolescent, I did not know anyone who was. I grew up in Chicago in a middle-class family," says Jim Campbell (1956) who, 25 years ago, went from being an electronic engineer to becoming an in the pioneering artist of experimentation with light.
