Line, plane, space. 100 years of the Ratingen Museum

"Line, Plane, Space: 100 Years of the Ratingen Museum" is a comprehensive anniversary exhibition of the museum's art collection, spanning two floors. It traces the development of the collection, which focuses on art from 1945 to the present day. A selection of recent acquisitions from the last few decades exemplifies the influences that have shaped the city's collection. Various formal and thematic connections can be drawn to the themes of geometric and lyrical abstraction, as well as to art and architecture. Wassily Kandinsky's essay "Point and Line to Plane," published in 1926, the year the Ratingen Museum was founded, serves as a point of reference. The exhibition

features key works from the collection alongside recent acquisitions: from Peter Brüning, Bernard Schultze, and Cy Twombly to contemporary artists such as Driss Ouadahi and Ralf Brueck. The exhibition features photographic and video works by Marcus Schwier and Anne Schülke, as well as works by Birgit Jensen, Jan Holthoff, Horst Keining, Jan Kolata, Neringa Naujokaite, Evangelos Papadopoulos, Zipora Rafaelov, Alke Reeh, Julian Schnabel, Max Schulze, Paul Schwer, and others.

The exhibition and its diverse accompanying program are supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
