This district surrounds the outskirts of Houston - for many years Lordy lived just outside this district. It is predominantly lower to middle class, but with a fairly diverse population racially (white, Black, Asian, Hispanic).
Each panel represents a randomized color selection within a specific tonal range chosen by the artist: dark tones on the left, light tones on the right, and the full spectrum of colors in the center. This arbitrary division of color schemes is a metaphor for the idea that race is a construct, used to political ends. In other words, there is a certain arbitrariness to the way populations are defined and divided in the gerrymandering process.
