NEW WORK: DRAWING is the first in a series of thematic group exhibitions of work which has never been shown in the Bay Area. The exhibitions are organized around a traditional medium but center on young artists who are re-defining how that medium is utilized.

Drawing is seductive. To the artist it provides an opportunity for experimentation, spontaneity and record-keeping. For the viewer it offers an intimate view of the artist’s thoughts and processes. It is frequently characterized by an unself-conscious risk-taking which painting, sculpture, video or installation lack.

This exhibition addresses concerns of material, line, method and intent and includes recently completed works by: JOHN ANDREWS, THERESA CHONG, ROLAND FLEXNER, AMANDA GUEST, J. SPENCER HALL, SUSAN HARTNETT, CHRISTINE HIEBERT, DAVID HUNTER, SIOBHAN LIDDELL, MARCO MAGGI, AMY MYERS, ALLYSON STRAFELLA, and others.
