The imagery in this piece is from footage shot by the artist of prayer flags outside of a Buddhist temple in Yunnan, China. It begins with a wide shot of the temple with green trees and a blue sky and the prayer flags flapping in the distance. The image then slowly zooms in until one flag takes up the entire screen — like an undulating colorfield. Then it slowly pulls back out to the complete scene, and when it zooms in again, it focuses on one of five different pixels in the overall image. The algorithm is such that the piece constantly rearranges the order of the pixel focus each time it zooms in. The effect is simultaneously dynamic and meditative.
