Dolly was the first mammal to be cloned through nuclear transfer from a somatic (non-reproductive) cell. Daisy, Debbie, Dianna, and Denise were cloned from the same DNA. Known as the four “Nottingham Dollies,” they were the only survivors of a group of 10 Dolly clones that were born in 2007. They were euthanized in 2017 because there was no longer any “scientific merit” in keeping the geriatric sheep alive.
