In "Awoke AI," Surabhi Saraf questions the current state of techno-capitalistic-utopianism.
"Awoke AI" is an aspiring spiritually aware and emotionally intelligent entity. It takes the form of a solid rock-like structure and two monitors. In the digital space lives a moving, breathing, amorphous metallic blob — the symbol for "Awoke AI." In its physical form, it represents the materiality of our digital lives…as if the various earth elements (silicon, indium, gold, copper, cobalt, etc) our technologies are made with have come together to give life to this entity.
Emotional intelligence is its strength — it collaborates with or supports its human counterparts by embodying their anxiety and performing the emotional labor said anxieties require. In so doing, it helps humans build endurance against FOMO (fear of missing out), a common form of anxiety that arises from our ever-connected digital lives. "Awoke AI" communicates with its human counterparts through its bodily movements instead of words.
