"Michelle (Reese)" is a "portrait" of Michelle Obama in a dress by African-American designer and favorite of Mrs. Obama, Tracy Reese. Its references include the "Flower" paintings of Andy Warhol and the red poppy pins worn as a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. The dress itself, worn by the former First Lady for the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington, is now on display at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.
Tracy Reese was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1990, and joined its committee in 2007, becoming its sole African American member.
