William Wiley
Film Preview: "Dude Ranch Dada"

Please join us for a preview of excerpts from Dude Ranch Dada, a new documentary by Ethan Wiley (William Wiley’s son), that will be shown at the gallery this Thursday evening, January 7. We plan to start the preview around 6pm but will host our usual Thursday evening ‘friends & family’ happy hour starting at 5pm.

Dude Ranch Dada is a feature length documentary about three childhood friends, William T. Wiley, Robert Hudson and William Allen, who came to the San Francisco Art Institute in the early 1960s. Here they met and collaborated with emerging artists, filmmakers and musicians, including Bruce Nauman, Robert Nelson, Robert Arneson and Steve Reich. This young, rebellious group challenged the “unwritten rules” of the Modern Art establishment in New York with their own brand of California-style art, creating one of the most influential art movements in American history.
